2 - Le Tanneur: A French Leather Goods House
Born from the collaboration of a tanner from Lyon and a leather craftsman from Ain, Le Tanneur was founded in 1898 in Belley, not far from Lake Bourget. In the optimistic and carefree spirit of the Belle Époque, our workshops drew inspiration directly from the French art of living to craft their first leather creations. From these prosperous beginnings came the guiding principle of Le Tanneur, which still drives us today: to embody French elegance and share a passion for exquisite materials and finely crafted leather goods. With numerous patents, innovations, and master leather craftsman ideas, Le Tanneur gradually made a name for itself.
3 - A Creative and Inspired Master Leather Craftsman
Leather craftsmanship is at the heart of Le Tanneur’s expertise. This knowledge has been passed down for over a century, with each generation adding to the wealth of techniques and skills of the previous ones. As a result, we have an endless source of inspiration to reinvent, or entirely create, the leather goods of today and tomorrow. Another strength of Le Tanneur is its ability to stay in tune with the times. A perfect example of our approach to leather craftsmanship is our iconic Sans-Couture coin purse. This signature piece won a silver medal at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle. Over time, we reimagined it in different formats: handbags, clutches, satchels, and even cardholders.
